Engineering Duty & Village Development

Fig: Engineering Duty & Village Development

In our country we have a good number of Civil, Electrical, and Computer engineers. They are taking their Diploma or B.Sc. degree from different reputed institutions. On the other hand in the year 2014, till we are marked as a developing country, not developed really! So, funny to me. What is the curse on us we can’t identify ourselves as the citizen of a developed country? Then it is true that we have lots of negative sides.

We don’t have a good selection process, pleasant working environment, peaceful consultancy body. Till now we don’t have any electrical supply system, perfect road construction technology, we can’t manage proper education for many village areas. But, why? How long we have to wait for a pure sunshine?

To control properly Bangladesh divided with seven administrative divisions. Mainly these seven divisions are namely Dhaka, Rajshahi, Chittagong, Barisal, Khulna, Rangpur and Sylhet. But recently some more divisions were proposed in the area consisting of Comilla, Mymensing and also the Chittagong hill track. If we study some key statistics about the seven divisions of Bangladesh as found in the 2011 from the “Population and Housing Census” conducted by the “Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics”, we can see the rate of population density. And the figure was: Barisal Division 613, Chittagong Division 831, Dhaka Division 1,502, Khulna Division 699, Rajshahi Division 1,007, Rangpur Division 960, Sylhet Division-779 people per square kilometers.

Now going to study deeply through the country. We have 64 districts with 493 sub-districts in our country. If here I try to mention the population then I need the help of Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (Retrieved 12 January 2012). Here we can see the total figure: Barguna District 481Barisal District823Bhola District517Jhalokati District795Patuakhali District471Pirojpur District844Bandarban District86Brahmanbaria District1457, Chandpur 1404, Chittagong 1421, Comilla 1719, Cox's Bazar 913, Feni 530, Khagrachhari 225, Lakshmipur 1175, Noakhali 853, Rangamati 97, Dhaka 8111, Faridpur 901, Gazipur 1852, Gopalganj 771, Jamalpur 1115, Kishoreganj 1061, Madaripur 1004, Manikganj 1000, Munshiganj 1487, Mymensingh 1156, Narayanganj 4139, Narsingdi 1930, Netrakona 786, Rajbari 929, Shariatpur 970, Sherpur 978, Tangail 1046, Bagerhat 369, Chuadanga 954, Jessore 1068, Jhenaidah 895, Khulna 522, Kushtia 1207, Magura 871, Meherpur 910, Narail 722, Satkhira 511, Bogra 1154, Joypurhat 942, Naogaon 750, Natore 894, Nawabganj 960, Pabna 1053, Rajshahi 1069, Sirajganj 1230, Dinajpur 864, Gaibandha 1078, Kurigram 893, Lalmonirhat 1006, Nilphamari 1152, Panchagarh 698, Rangpur 1210, Thakurgaon 762, Habiganj 781, Moulvibazar 679, Sunamganj 666, Sylhet 975 people per square kilometers.

Now, with this vast population and lots of divisions and district, we need proper maintenance by the gracious hands of qualified people. Example, suppose for a specific post an electrical engineer needed, then must be an electrical engineer join the post not any BBA or Arts background person. Sometimes with the illegal power people do their job with different background. Our monitoring system should be strong enough. Till now our village health condition too much low and its decreasing rate was about 26% in the year 2012 according to a statistics of govt. website.

We need to increase playground in the village area. Every month lots of people come Dhaka city for their higher education. Because  of the lacking. Thus the density of Dhaka city increasing day by day. We need to control it with increasing proper education facilities for their own areas.

Our engineers’ don’t have the working opportunities to serve the people with pure mentality. “No Govt. job without money” is a common track in our country. Thus any other without satisfied knowledge has the open post if she/he is able to serve the dishonest selective body.

We just need to change the negative system. We need an open system to select the people for any important post.
